The origin of its name is Portuguese and means “Belleview”. When going through the ecological routes around of this pueblo, the cold weather and grey sky give hikers a magical sensation. Historically, its rivers and water streams have homed rainbow and golden trout, which are now grown in ponds for commercial purposes. A few minutes away from town is its jewel: the Páramo de Belmira, an ecological preserve bursting with endemic species of flora and fauna.
